Arkio supports standalone Mixed Realty headsets like the Meta Quest 3 and older tethered VR devices like the Rift(-S), HTC Vive (Pro) and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. High frame rates are important for a comfortable VR experience, so you need a powerful workstation and GPU if you plan to work on large imported models. Some recommended specs for a good VR workstation/laptop can be found here.
If you are new to VR or looking for the latest-gen devices, we recommend the new Meta Quest 3. An affordable standalone mixed reality headset that does not require a PC to run games and apps like Arkio. It supports hand tracking room scanning and it can even be connected to a PC using USB/WiFi for using traditional VR applications.
Meta Quest 2 and Quest 3
Arkio can be installed on the standalone Quest 2 and 3 by searching for "Arkio" in the Meta Quest store. The Quest 3 headset is one of the best headsets on the market as it allows you to work in both augmented and virtual reality (mixed reality) the Quest store has a large library of apps and there are solutions to organize and manage your fleet of headsets. You can also connect your Quest headsets to a PC using Airlink mode to use more traditional VR applications on your PC. Connecting your Quest to a PC allows you to also import larger models, use hybrid PC/VR collaboration, and improve render quality.
Meta Quest Pro
Arkio was featured as a launch app on the Meta Quest store one of the first mixed-reality devices from Meta. This headset features self-tracking controllers improved comfort and color passthrough so you can blend your real and virtual words. You can download Arkio on Your Meta Quest Pro from the official Meta Quest store.

HTC Vive Focus 3 & Vive XR Elite
HTC's standalone headsets have a business-focused app store and a separate operating system that does not (yet) support the Arkio standalone app. You can however use Arkio on these headsets by connecting your headset to a PC wirelessly and using SteamVR to run Arkio from your PC.
Pico G3 and 4
Pico's standalone headsets also have a business-focused app store and a separate operating system that does not (yet) support Arkio standalone app. You can however use Arkio on these headsets by connecting your headset to a PC wirelessly and using SteamVR to run Arkio from your PC.
HTC Vive & Vive PRO
All tethered versions of the HTC Vive are supported by Arkio, just make sure to have a recent version of SteamVR installed on your system. If you need help in with setting up Steam and your devices please visit the official Steam VR website.
Windows MR
All tethered versions of the discontinued Windows Mixed Reality headsets are supported. You need to install SteamVR and the Windows MR support from Steam to use these devices. For help on setup or troubleshooting these devices can be found on the official WIndows Mixed Reality help pages.
Valve Index and Varjo
The Valve Index and Varjo VR headsets can also be used with Arkio using our Steam VR integration. The Valve Index controllers will work similarly to the HTC Vive wands. Arkio's mixed reality features only work on the Meta Quest headsets and not on Varjo headsets as SteamVR does not natively support rendering stereoscopic passthrough in existing apps.
