Arkio supports standalone VR headsets like the Oculus Quest and more powerful tethered devices like the Oculus Rift(-S), HTC Vive (Pro) and Windows Mixed Reality headsets. High frame rates are important for a comfortable VR experience, so you need a powerful workstation and GPU if you plan to work on big scenes or large imported models. Some recommended specs for a good VR workstation/laptop can be found here.
If you are new to VR or are looking for the latest-gen devices we can recommend the new Meta Quest 2. As an affordable standalone wireless headset that supports hand tracking and does not need a PC to run games and apps like Arkio (it can even be connected to a PC using USB/WiFi for importing larger models and apps) If you want to have the best that mixed reality technology has to offer, We can recommend looking into the Meta Quest Pro.
Meta Quest and Quest 2
Arkio can be installed on the standalone Quest by searching for "Arkio" in the Meta Quest store. You can also connect your Quest to a PC using a supported USB-C cable or the Airlink mode. Connecting your Quest to a PC and running Arkio from Windows allows you to import larger models, hybrid PC/VR collaboration, and better rendering quality.
